As you have found this page you will probably have realised by now that F1 for me is about the technical innovation on show.  Yes I love the racing as much as the next fan but I love the intricacies of F1 design.

Over the years I have noticed that many commentators/pundits use a certain level of assumption in regard to the knowledge the general F1 fan has.  My blog tries to help put some of the more technical aspects of the sport into an easy to understand context.

I already write for many F1 sites aswell as the blog here, however should you have a site you wish me to write an article for you give me a shout and I'll see if I can fit it in.

If you want to chat about anything #TechF1 or get in touch for any other reason you can either grab me on Twitter: @SomersF1 or by email: somersf1@gmail.com

Do you have a business or product that you feel will align with the #TechF1 audience? If so and you would like to talk to me about banner advertising on the website please drop me an email: somersf1@gmail.com

I have an ever growing audience, currently having around 30,000-40,000 pageviews a month but I expect this to steadily increase.

People want to understand the technical aspects of the sport it's just not as accessible to them as perhaps it should be, I intend on changing that.

    1. Hi Ben

Thanks for the feedback, I always appreciate it (good or bad) but glad you've enjoyed what you have read. Don't worry I have attracted some attention with my coverage throughout 2012 and so I may work with some larger concerns in the future.

  3. Have you and Scarbs ever thought about coming together to form the mother of all F1 tech sites? That would be AWESOME.

  4. A very minor point - a typo in your introduction: " I aim to help the causal fan" - should read "casual".

    1. Hi Ted

Thanks for the heads up, you'd have thought with so many pageviews that someone would have pointed that out before LOL.

  5. Please Matt could we have some information relating to the hub arrangments, and fixings, on these cars. Since the lower wishbone front and rear are now mounted at the centre of the wheel along the axle line. How is the king pin line, and wheel spindle arranged and of what material. With the suspension arms so close in parallel how are the accelaration and braking loads managed. At the rear the drive shafts and joints are also of interest. With the drive shaft running in the lower wishbone, directly along the axle line. I hope that you can help. The detailed information which you provide has greatly enhanced my own knowledge and enjoyment of these very interesting cars. With thanks.

  7. Hi Matt
Please could we have an explanation of the Lotus front suspension which has now been disqualified for Germany. I know it concerns the upright and the number of connections to it, but would be interested in any other info' which you may have.
    With Thanks

  8. Hi Matt,
Do you have any description about a power plant? I am interested in the conception, the whole idea of the power unit. Thanks.

  9. Hi Matt,
A couple of links to external websites are either not working or those websites/blogs are inactive.

  10. I agree with the comment posted on 7 January 2013 14:24. You should be working for the BBC F1 section (which is very dormant by the way)

    1. Thanks for the feedback! I offered the BBC my services but they declined. Perhaps in the future...

  11. I am not surprised :) The BBC F1 team is dormant most of the year especially during the recess period. Very shocking from a leading news corporation that pretends to have huge interest in F1. For sure, your website has more visitor hits than the BBC F1 site and that tells something. Perhaps you could consider more advertisement space/revenue and a redesign of the website (just an idea)
