I've been writing about F1 for several seasons now and although I've been able to generate some pocket change from my work I'd like to take things further.  With your help I'd like to get to a stage where I can concentrate on providing technical analysis on a full time basis, not only with the written word but with illustrations, podcasts, video analysis etc.  These are all things that I have done sporadically in the past but feel you'll all get better coverage if I could focus more time on them.

Don't get me wrong the images that I use of Suttons are exceptional but sometimes providing illustrations help to highlight the detail so much more.  For example here's a sketch of the Mercedes W05 Bargeboard I did recently:

Here's a video I did ahead of the massive regulation changes the sport faced in 2014, content like this is what I want to provide but just don't have the time to produce on a regular basis:

To be able to focus more heavily on the content I produce I need to make a c-change in my lifestyle, currently my day job takes up 60 hours a week, with some of my analysis being done during lunch breaks etc, whilst the bulk of it has to be done outside of that, meaning at times I'm committing another 20+ hours on top. If I could generate enough income I could reduce my day job hours and commit the rest to F1, or even better focus full time on F1.

You might say, well go and get a job with an outlet that covers F1, believe me I have tried, I've even freelanced for many of them, the problem is the content I provide is quite niche and not for everyone and so I need the support of those that like and want more of my content.  Yes that's you!

I've considered going down the paywall route but I think that only really works for the larger outlets. Gratipay offers you the consumer an alternative option, it means you can reward me for my hard work to the tune of any sum you feel appropriate each week (It's an American site so the payment figures are shown in $).  I like the idea of Gratipay as it's voluntary, making it none intrusive and allowing me to continue to provide content that everyone can see.  All you see different on the site is a small green symbol ahead of each post which links to my Gratipay account, if you want to give you can, if you don't, don't.

  1. Can I contribute through PayPal? It is preferable to continued debit of my account.

  2. I agree with Mack there, a paypal donate button would be preferable! (Although I will continue to support you through Gratipay)
